How to create Ubuntu (or any Linux) bootable USB
After trying so many different tools, I have settled on using Balena Etcher for all my bootable USB needs. It could not be any simpler
Step 1 : Download Balena Etcher
Go HERE and download the latest version of Balena Etcher and install it on your computer.
Step 2 : Run it
This is obvious, you run it, select the iso you want to flash, select the drive you want to flash and then just Flash!
Note About MacOS: Once the flashing is done, you will receive a message saying "disk you inserted was not readable by this computer".
You can safely ignore this. Do not click "initialize"
What about something else?
Only down side to Balena Etcher is that it is a bit bigger at ~90MB compared to tools like Rufus. This should not be a concern for most people, but if you have really slow internet and would prefer smaller, Rufus
is amazing for Windows.
Rufus (Only for Windows)
Download Rufus from HERE
Unetbootin (Cross platform)
Another tool is the classic Unetbootin
, as old as time, but still works.
